This very handsome antique Georgian
partners desk is very impressive and a rather rare find for a desk
from this period, early 19th century. The desk which measures and
impressive 70" x 54" stands on shaped bracket feet and is
very well proportioned.
It is fitted with 9 drawers to each
side, a total of 18 drawers, offering plenty of storage and surface
area. All of the 18 drawers are cock beaded to the edges with hand
cut dovetail joints and pine drawer linings. The locks and the handles
are replacements.
The desk has recently been restored
and is fitted with a very smart one piece hide writing surface decorated
with gilt and blind tooling. The hide is surrounded by a cross band
of well figured mahogany with a thumb moulded edge.
As with all partners desks it is made
in three sections for ease of movement and assembly.
