A well proportioned, attractive 9 drawer Antique Edwardian
Pedestal Desk from the beginning of the 20th century.
Recently french polished, this mahogany desk has well figured timbers
in a deep red mahogany colour which is appropriate for furniture
of this period.
It has a dark olive green leather writing surface with gilt and
blind tooling. This is surrounded by a 3 inch band of figured mahogany
with moulded edges.
The top is fitted with three drawers as are the pedestals. The
drawers are finished with chamfered edges, the original brass, swan-neck,
handles and brass locks.
One of the drawers has an ivorine
suppliers label from 'Geo. D. Pooley, 4 Great Queens Street, London',
which was a traditional area for furniture suppliers from the 18th
century.
This is a most attractive antique desk in good condition and a
very useful size.
As with all pedestal desks it is
made in three sections, top and two pedestals, for ease of movement
and installation.
