A top quality antique partners desk made from the best quality
mahogany timbers which are very well figured and have developed
a very rich patina. An impressive desk that will make a wonderful
statement piece in any office or study.
It is made by the Edinburgh firm 'J & T Scott Cabinet Makers,
10 George Street, Edinburgh' It has the ivorine label inside a cupboard
door.
The desk is an impressive size being
six foot wide and four foot deep with a new black hide writing surface
with gold and blind tooling which is surrounded by a band of mahogany
with a thumb moulded edge.
The top has unusual shaped brackets at each end to extend the writing
top which has three drawers to the front and the reverse.
The pedestals have drawers and two cupboards to the reverse with
plinth bases and hidden castors. There are three drawers on the
left pedestal and two on the right as the top drawer is a double
depth for deep files etc. (Please see more
images) The drawers are Ash lined with hand cut dovetail joints
brass locks and the original turned knob pulls.
As with most pedestal desks it is made in three sections, the top
and two pedestals, for ease of movement and installation.
