This is a very stylish antique
writing table in good condition. The top is fitted with a
leather writing surface with gilt and blind tooling and is surrounded
by a band of satinwood with a bulls nose moulded edge.
There are five drawers fitted beneath
with oak linings, hand cut dovetails and attractive brass loop handles.
The satinwood drawer fronts have ogee mouldings in mahogany, which
enhances the figuring in the satinwood. The drawers are arranged around
the kneehole with ornate with ornate brackets in the corners.
The legs are turned and fluted with
mahogany banding and the original brass and ceramic castors.
Condition:
The writing table is in good antique condition, circa 1860 with later
alterations to the top, probably in the 1920's when the current brown
leather writing surface was fitted. We have cleaned and waxed the
table and it has a most attractive colour and patina.
